As someone interested in construction, it was great to see how homes and other buildings were constructed throughout English history: Saxon, Tudor, Victorian and Medieval. They even have a large hall built by modern/future construction techniques, made of timber, where no timber elements have fixing holes drilled into them - definitely worth going along to the talk about this building.As well as the structural aspect of the museum, the setting is beautiful. Nestled in the South Downs and with their own lake, it is a very peaceful and pretty place to spend the day.I very much enjoyed it and highly recommended it, you are interested in construction, architecture and history.
Pretty little open air museum. Friendly staff. All houses on exhibit are open and more or less decorated in style. In some houses volunteers are quite happy to explain or to give you a taste of what life was like in the day. The restaurant has recently been upgraded to modern standards although they are still trying to find their consistency. Tip: Buy some food for the ducks!
This wonderful place is a gem. Over the last few years it has undergone some changes and they have enhanced the museum so much! The cafe is open to all, even if your not visiting the museum. It's lovely in there and you can get lovely hot meals too. The toilet facilities are fantastic. The best.
This is a truly wonderful place where they rebuild old architecture that has to be moved from various places. They do it brick by brick and it makes a fantastic place to walk around and see how people lived in days gone by. But that's not all, they have architectural exhibitions too. There are toilets and a nice new cafe to keep you comfortable.
Well kept attraction. This is a great way to experience how far we have processed in our living accommodation. The fact that you are able to go into the houses and see how difficult life was for our ancestors is amazing.It's quite a trek around the site but it is very worth while. The staff in the different properties are so knowledgeable. Take the time to talk to them they are well worth it.A great day out, very knowledgeable staff and generally a very enlightening day.
