Allow up to 2 hours on a rainy day - more if the sun is shining in order to get a real appreciation of the authentically recreated Roman Palace gardens in addition to the main buildings.The Palace contains some of Britain's best preserved and best preserved mosaics in situ and there is also a museum explaining some of the most important finds.Make sure that you visit the Audio Visual presentation room - preferably before viewing the archaeological remains.In short, a first class experience for both young and old!
Don't let the slightly tired building and exhibits put you off what is a fascinating ruin with impressive mosaics. If you can catch a tour it's well worth it - insightful, illuminating and witty. On site cafe with decent indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of parking at site.
A very important site when it comes to Roman history in Great Britain. A very impressive exhibition and building and you can really get an impression of the site of this building. Was an extra and impressive experience getting to actually hold, touch and feel some of the 2000 year old artefacts. If possible do visit so you can take advantage of one of the free, guided tours.
First visited in the 60's.Rare and beautiful Roman mosaics, in a wonderful setting. Well laid out and simple to see. Small informative museum with some fantastic objects. Delightful garden. Cafe, and a large car park. Wheelchair accessible.
Visited here after 10 years since the last visit. Great improvements made for disabled access with the raised walkways above the palace floor excavations. Helpful friendly staff, and some times, like yesterday, added authentic feel with visiting reenactment group in period costumes and add knowledge of the Romans periods.
