Food was great, service was really good (a little slow but not bad considering the size and busyness of the restaurant). Let down by the price. We had a 20% of vouchers and only had soft drinks and were still surprised by the cost of the bill.
Good place for a steak and if you like crispy coated prawns then you absolutely have to have them at Smith & Western. I always used to have the ocean steak as it came with prawns but they need to be ordered as a side now as the new menu didn't have the ocean steak anymore but worth it.
Recently celebrated our son's 18th here and the kids still love this place even though they've grown up. Food is great and birthday pud is huge, could be eaten by 2 or 3 people. Soda's are refillable for free unless full fat coke due to the sugar tax so good for the purse. Worth a visit for for the atmosphere.
VERY slow service. We were basically sat down and forgotten about for most of the evening, the staff seem to be more interested in dashing off every 2 minutes to sing happy birthday to various people, i understand that needs to be done but the WHOLE staff? Its either a lack of staff or poor staff management. Nacho platter was lovely, main courses were disappointing. We used to love this place. Never again.
Birthday celebrations. Was a good meal but waited a bit too long. They weren't rushed so couldn't understand it. Poor waitress had sore throat so couldn't shout!! But she was great as too was the manager. A real nice gent
