Lovely place for a family walk. Great cup of tea.
A good canal for kayaking etc. Entry at Chichester Basin is straight forward. The main stretch between the basin and the first road is easily navigable. The next section is also navigable after portaging your craft across the road, however it is very difficult to get back into your kayak on the other side. A simple platform here would make re-entering much more attractive. The next stretch is also navigable, but during mid summer it can get choked with weed. Pass through the tunnel and you might make it to the old lock, adjacent to Chichester Marinas drive. Again, that depends on the time of year and weed growth.Overall a great canal for kayaks and SUPs, but improvement to the entry and exit points would increase its appeal. After all, 24 for a family of four is not cheap!
Nice area for a peaceful walk. A little bit more tlc to clean some areas would improve to 5 stars.
My family and I love the cakes here. Always satisfying to walk by the canal and go for our cake and coffee buy some bird food and feed the ducks on our way home.
Great cafe on site. Comfortable seating, steep steps in the boat, good visibility unfortunately the boat is largely closed in but you can take it in turn to go into the open area (4 max) at a time. No commentary but information packs are available
